The main winter activities that bring people to Morzine every winter are skiing and snowboarding. However, there are other activities as well, for anyone who is unable to ski or who just wants a break.

Husky Sledging

A truly unique way to see the Portes Du Soleil, this is a chance to feel as though you are crossing the Arctic wastes exploring. There are a number of companies in town that offer tours of varying distances.

Skidoo Rides

After the lifts close for the day, the skidoos come out. Companies take groups out allowing them to see the mountain at night and go at their own pace, as slow or as fast as they are comfortable with.

Snowshoeing

If you want to see the mountain but donĂt want to go up on skis then snowshoeing might be for you. Guided tours take groups out to see some of the untouched treasures of Morzine and get close to nature.

Parapenting

Parapenting, or paragliding, can involve some skiing, as you ski off the edge of a mountain, but it can also be done by pedestrians. Go up with one of the local companies and they will fly you around the mountains taking in some of the most spectacular views in the area, including views of Mt Blanc.

Cheese Tasting

Not necessarily a winter specific activity, but anyone who has enjoyed a warming fondue after a day on the slopes might want to go and see how the famous local cheeses are made and sample some right where they are manufactured.

Ice Diving

At Lac Montriond you can dive below the ice and explore the lake in the middle of winter. Not just for experienced divers, beginners are also welcome to go down with a guide.

Night Sledging

If a day of skiing has left you wanting more time on the slopes then night sledging might be just what you are looking for. Departing from the top of Pleney groups of up to twelve can race down the mountain before returning to the warmth of their chalet!

Ice Hockey

The local ice hockey team plays at home at the Palais De Sports. Their schedule is available on their website so if you're lucky enough to be in town when a home game is on then it's well worth going to watch the game and cheer on the team.
