Les Gets's location is within the Haute Savoie department of the Auvergne-Rhones-Alpes region of France. The proximity of towns and cities with good transport links has been instrumental in the development of the tourism industry in the area over the years and has led to Les Gets becoming one of the most convenient resorts for tourists to visit.

Still further away, about thirty eight kilometres away, is Thonon-Les-Bains on the shores of Lake Geneva, with an even larger population of around thirty five thousand. Both Thonon and Cluses have good sized train stations with regular services towards Lyon and Paris. Itís also worth noting that Chamonix, at the foot of Mt Blanc, is only sixty kilometres away. Praz De Lys, the closest non linked ski resort, is under twelve kilometres away.

The closest large city is Geneva in Switzerland which is approximately sixty four kilometres away. Geneva is also the closest international airport and is the main access point for people coming to Les Gets on holiday. Geneva is the second largest city in Switzerland (after Zurich) with a population of about one hundred and ninety thousand people (compared to almost four hundred thousand in Zurich). In France the closest city is Annecy, the largest city in the Haute Savoie with a population of around fifty thousand. Annecy is the capital of the Haute Savoie and has been historically important since its development in Roman times. It is located on the shores of Lake Annecy. A new municipality was established there at the start of 2017 with the merger of the former communes of Cran-Gevrier, Annecy-Le-Vieux, Meythet, Pringy and Seynod.
