There’s plenty going on in Morzine this coming week, with events laid on by the town to ensure visitors have the best possible experience during their time here.

Here is a selection of what visitors cane expect:

On Monday 18th there will be welcome drinks held in the tourist office square in the centre of town. These include “Chartreuse Green Chaud”: the local Chartreuse drink mixed with hot chocolate – and a selection of drinks from the local Alpage dairy. These take place between 4:30 and 6:30 PM. There will also be a band playing to get the party going!

Tuesday 19th is set to be a busy day with plenty of activities. Between 10 AM and midday, and again between 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM there will be a fun wooden cabin building activity for children, where they can make a wooden cabin and decorate it themselves to give it a real personal touch. Between 5:30 and 6:30 PM “L’Association Des Commercants” will be hosting a fashion show in the town square for visitors to discover this season’s winter fashions. Moving away from the tourist office square, the ESF will be hosting a ski retrospective at the bottom of the Pleney where they will demonstrate skiing techniques from 1900 to the present day. There will be hot chocolate and mulled wine on offer. Later on L’Opera Nightclub will be hosting a teenager’s night from 8:30 PM to 11:00 PM. There will be no alcohol and no cigarettes. Entry is five euros per person, including a free drink.

Things continue into Wednesday with a cookery workshop for children from six to twelve years old at the Palais Du Sport. Registration is at the tourist office, and the event takes place between 4:00 PM and 5:30 PM. From 6:30 PM children over the age of twelve can take part in a torchlit descent on the Pleney slopes followed by an ESF torchlit descent and fireworks. Later, at 8:45 PM, the Morzine Avoriaz penguins play an exhibition ice hockey match against Black Easton. Tickets are ten euros for adults and six for children.

On Thursday anyone not going up skiing in the morning can take part in a nature walk in the Dereches between ten AM and midday. Registration is free at the tourist office. In the afternoon there is a free druid’s magic wand workshop that is free for children from eight upwards. This takes place between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM at the Palais Du Sport. Registration is at the tourist office. From 4:15 PM to 6:30 PM there is a free ice sculpture demonstration at the tourist office square. Between 6:30 PM and 8:30 PM there is floodlit skiing on the Pleney, free with a local lift pass. Between 8:30 and 11 PM there will be ice skating dancing at the Palais Du Sport. Entrance is 3.20 euros.

Finishing off the week, on Friday 22nd, skiers have the chance to try out speed skiing on a private slope on Nyon. This is a free event running from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. From 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM there will be a free obstacle race in the tourist office square for children over the age of five. From 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM there will be a circus workshop where children can learn circus skills, such as juggling. This is for children between four and twelve and is free, with registration at the tourist office.
