The FIS Junior Championships have come to the Portes Du Soleil! This week has seen the valley filled with Alpine Race teams from all over the world take part in competitions of various disciplines to gain points to qualify for the Youth Olympics.

The main event is Slalom. The skier must pass between the two poles forming the gate, with the tips of both skis and the skier’s feet passing between the poles. A course has 55 to 75 gates for men and 40 to 60 for women. The vertical drop for a  course is 180 to 220 m (591 to 722 ft).

The Men’s and Women’s Slalom is taking place right here in the heart of Morzine on the slopes of Le Pleney. The Women’s final was on Wednesday. However, you can catch the Men’s Slalom on Friday at 15:00. Here’s the timetable for all the upcoming events over the weekend.
