As winter draws to a close, it is bittersweet to see the snow melt away, knowing that summer is just around the corner, which is incredibly exciting. As well as the obvious activities we all enjoy, such as mountain biking, hiking and swimming in the lake, this amazing place also holds a lot of events for the community, tourists, and eventers.

The following are a few we are most excited about and worth considering when selecting the week to visit and booking your accommodation…

June

24th – 26th: Passportes du Soleil

As part of the Passportes du Soleil race, many MTB enthusiasts are gathered to the mountains, and it marks the opening of the region’s bike lift network. It is a perfect way to kick off summer with 80km of routes, between 1000 and 245m in altitude, enthusiastic mountain bikers, breathtaking views, and the opportunity to tastedelicious local produce. This year will be the 22nd edition running over the long weekend. As a good-natured event, it’s less competitive and more of a celebration of getting back on the trails between France and Switzerland.

July

2nd – 3rd: Morzine Spartan

This summer, we can’t wait to see the Spartan Race return to Morzine. Do you have what it takes to tackle muddy trails, tricky obstacle courses, and other endurance events in the quickest time possible? ​Entries cost from €97 – €237 and you can choose from a variety of races such as; The Sprint (5km), The Super (12km), The Beast (21km), The Ultra (50km) and the Kids Race.

11th: The Tour de France Stage 10 departs Morzine

Morzine will host the Tour de France for the 21st time since 1975. During this year’s race, the riders will take a day off in Morzine before picking up the route again, which offers breathtaking views of the mountains in the Portes du Soleil area, bordering Lake Geneva before heading to Megève. The route winds through valleys, resulting in a battle between the strongest riders at the red flame. As in the Critérium du Dauphiné 2020, the finish line is drawn on the altiport. Having this event pass through Morzine will be an unforgettable experience creating a unique buzz and making it a very special time to visit.

14th – 17th: Harley Days

Imagine over 3000 vintage motorcycles, live music and stalls, the Harley Days festival is one of the most exciting events of the summer. In 2021, we were devastated when the event was cancelled, so we are eager to welcome this unique vibe with leather stalls, great music, and of course incredible Harley Davison motorbikes back to our town. This event is free, so come on down and celebrate life on the open road with Harley Davison enthusiasts from all over Europe. Although we haven’t found out which amazing band will be performing yet, we’ll be impatiently awaiting the announcement!

August

6th: Fete du Lac Morzine

With amazing colours, music, and views across our beloved lake Montriond, this spectacular hour-long fireworks display will leave you breathless. Every year in France there is a celebration to show appreciation for ts lakes and beautiful landscape. The first Fete du Lac was held in 1860 to honour Napoleon III. Visitors are allowed to watch the festival for free, and there are food and drink stands present.

24th – 28th: Les Gets World Championships

Undoubtedly the most anticipated event of the year, The Les Gets World Championships is the one that attracts the most buzz to our mountains. Get ready for the worlds best downhill MTB and XCountry riders to tear it up in Les Gets over a 4 day competition. Les Gets is just a 15 minute bus ride from Morzine and is more than accessible to anyone staying in surrounding towns. 9th – 10th: Mont Blanc Ralley

For more than 20 years, the end of summer in Morzine has been marked by one of the stages of the French Automobile Championship: the Mont-Blanc Morzine Rally. Rally fans and spectators from all over France and Europe delight in the unique stages around the resort, like the Joux Verte pass and the Joux Plane pass, as well as vintage and historic cars. This mountain rally never fails to amaze the fans as it always provides a magnificent show.
